AXIS-Y Dark Spot Serum: In Korea It’s the “Blemish-Care Glow Serum,” With the Same 25 Ingredients

AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum: what Korea calls it (잡티케어 글로우 세럼), the full ingredient list checked against the Korean one, and how Korea and the US search it.

“AXIS-Y dark spot correcting glow serum” gets 6,600 US Google searches a month. The shorter “axis-y dark spot serum” gets another 2,900. That’s more than the brand name itself, which also sits at 2,900. In the US, this serum is bigger than the brand that makes it.

The first page for it is mostly the brand’s own store, Amazon, Target, Skinsort, a Reddit thread asking “has anyone tried this?”, and a few blog reviews. They all describe the same English label. None of them tell you what the bottle is called in Korea, and the Korean name is quite different. This post covers:

  • The Korean name, and what it tells you about how Korea sells this serum
  • The full ingredient list, checked word for word against the Korean one
  • How Korea and the US search for it, which shows how export-led this product is
  • What 5% niacinamide can and can’t do for dark spots, in plain words

“Dark Spot Correcting” in the US, “잡티케어” in Korea

On the AXIS-Y US store the product is Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, 50 ml / 1.69 fl oz. On the brand’s Korean site it’s a different name.

Where What it is called
AXIS-Y US store (axis-y.com) Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
Amazon (as shown in Google’s results) AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
50ml (“Blemish-Care Glow Serum”)
Olive Young online (as shown in Google Korea)
Coupang (as shown in Google Korea) 엑시스와이 잡티개선 다크스팟 코렉팅 글로우세럼 (both names in one title)
Shinsegae duty-free (as shown in Google Korea)

Three things to take from this:

  • 잡티 (japti) isn’t quite “dark spot”. It’s a broad everyday Korean word for small marks on the skin, such as freckles, leftover acne marks and uneven patches. 잡티케어 means “blemish care”. If you’re shopping in Seoul, look for 잡티케어 글로우 세럼. The words “dark spot” won’t be on a Korean shelf tag.
  • Olive Young adds its own nickname. The bracket in its online title, [잡티컷세럼/미백], reads “blemish-cut serum / brightening”. 잡티컷 is a marketing nickname, not the product name. You’ll see it on Korean social posts too.
  • 미백 (mibaek) is a regulatory word in Korea. It literally means “whitening”, but on Korean cosmetics it’s the official category for brightening products registered with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as “functional cosmetics”. Olive Young’s title uses it, and a Korean blog review describes the niacinamide as an MFDS-listed brightening ingredient. The US page doesn’t mention this, because the category doesn’t exist there.

What Koreans actually search

Korea (Google) English-speaking (US Google)
Brand, English spelling axis-y — 1,000 axis-y — 2,900
Brand, Korean spelling
This serum, full English name axis-y dark spot correcting glow serum — 320 axis-y dark spot correcting glow serum — 6,600
This serum, short English name axis y dark spot serum — 170 axis-y dark spot serum — 2,900
This serum, Korean name
The generic category 잡티세럼 (“blemish serum”) — 110 · 나이아신아마이드 세럼 — 590 dark spot serum — 5,400

What stands out:

  1. In Korea, the English names win. “axis-y” (1,000) beats “엑시스와이” (390), and the English product name (320) is searched 16 times more than the Korean one (20). Many of the people looking this serum up on Google in Korea are probably searching the name they saw in English, whether on social media, overseas reviews or the bottle itself.
  2. This is an export-led product. In the US, the serum alone (6,600) outsearches the brand (2,900). Shoppers find the serum first and the brand second.
  3. The US category is big. “Dark spot serum” gets 5,400 US searches a month. AXIS-Y’s product name contains that phrase, which is probably part of why the English name travels so well.

⚠️ A caveat on the numbers: most searching in Korea happens on Naver, not Google, so Google’s Korean figures understate domestic interest. I only use them to compare terms within one market, never as a headcount. The Korea column tells you how these names rank against each other on Korean Google. It doesn’t tell you how many Koreans use the serum.

There’s also a domestic sales signal. Korean business press (Segye Biz, June 2026) reported the company’s statement that 잡티케어 글로우 세럼 ranked first in Olive Young’s online skincare category on 15 May 2026. That’s the company’s own figure for one day’s online ranking, so read it as a snapshot.

AXIS-Y dark spot correcting glow serum ingredients

This is the list published on the AXIS-Y US store when I checked on 27 September 2026:

Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Propanediol, Erythritol, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Chlorphenesin, Arginine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, Glutathione, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Allantoin, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil

The Korean list is the same

The brand’s Korean site lists the ingredients in Korean (전성분):

I matched them one by one. Both lists have 25 ingredients in the same order. A few names look different only because of translation. 비타민나무 (“vitamin tree”) is sea buckthorn, the Hippophae extract. 서인도체리 (“West Indian cherry”) is acerola. 포트마리골드 is pot marigold, or calendula. The Korean list also specifies 식물성 (plant-derived) squalane, which the US list doesn’t say.

So unlike some K-beauty products where the export version is a different formula, here the only thing that changes between Korea and the US, according to the brand’s own pages, is the name. The Korean page also says it’s made in Korea, with a shelf life of 36 months unopened and 12 months after opening.

What those ingredients do, in plain words

Niacinamide is the active, and it’s third on the list. The brand says it’s at 5%. Only water and glycerin come before it. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is one of the better-studied brightening ingredients. A frequently cited study (Hakozaki et al., British Journal of Dermatology, 2002) found that 5% niacinamide reduced the look of hyperpigmentation. It worked by slowing the transfer of pigment to the surface skin cells, not by stopping pigment from being made. In practice, that means it fades marks gradually. It’s not a quick fix, and the study ran for weeks, not days.

The rest is mostly hydration. Glycerin, sodium hyaluronate (a form of hyaluronic acid), propanediol, erythritol and butylene glycol all hold water in the skin. Squalane is a light oil that sits close to the skin’s own oils. That’s where the “glow” part of the name comes from: a well-hydrated surface reflects light more evenly.

The fruit and plant extracts are supporting players. Rice bran, calendula, papaya, sea buckthorn and acerola all sit after squalane, with glutathione further down. The brand highlights sea buckthorn for radiance. These are normal additions, but on this list they’re in smaller amounts than the niacinamide.

There’s no exfoliating acid and no stated vitamin C. There’s no AHA, BHA or PHA on the list. Acerola is a vitamin-C-rich fruit, but the list doesn’t include a vitamin C ingredient like ascorbic acid or ascorbyl glucoside. That makes this serum easy to fit next to other products, since there’s no acid and no retinoid in it.

One detail for sensitive skin: rosemary leaf oil. The US page says the serum is “formulated without artificial fragrances”. That’s true as worded. But the last ingredient, rosemary leaf oil, is an essential oil, and essential oils are a natural fragrance source. It’s at the very end of the list, so the amount is small. If you already know essential oils bother your skin, though, the claim alone doesn’t rule it out.

The texture helpers: carbomer and hydroxyethylcellulose thicken it into a gel-serum, arginine adjusts the pH, and chlorphenesin, ethylhexylglycerin and 1,2-hexanediol are the preservative system. The US page also says the serum is certified vegan and cruelty-free and free from parabens, mineral oil and artificial colours.

The brand’s clinical claims

The US store lists four results: 20% reduction in the appearance of dark spots after 4 weeks, 18% improvement in overall brightness and tone evenness, 95% reported improved hydration and 92% observed clearer, more even-looking skin. The footnote says “Based on clinical evaluation. Individual results may vary.” The page doesn’t give the number of participants, the testing lab or how “dark spots” were measured. So I’m reporting these as the brand’s claims. I haven’t seen the study.

AXIS-Y dark spot serum reviews: what people report

The brand store shows 403 reviews, with 68% at five stars and 27% at four. Two review sources that rank on Google are worth knowing, because they point the same way:

  • A Reddit thread in Google Korea’s results. One commenter with oily, acne-prone skin said their overall tone got brighter but their dark spots didn’t change.
  • A critical review on the brand’s own store. A reviewer with sensitive combination skin said the fading was slow. They tried twice-daily use to speed it up and got closed comedones (small bumps).

Those are individual experiences, not tests. But they match what the ingredient list suggests. This is a gentle, hydrating niacinamide serum, and gentle niacinamide works slowly. Overall brightness and a fresh “glow” tend to show up before stubborn spots fade. Using more of it isn’t a shortcut.

Who it’s for, and who should skip it

It makes sense if:
– you want a first niacinamide serum at a moderate strength (5%) rather than 10%
– your main concern is overall dullness and leftover marks after breakouts
– you want something that layers easily with no acids or retinoids in it

Look elsewhere if:
– you want faster or stronger brightening. Higher-niacinamide serums, or formulas that add tranexamic acid, target spots more directly. Our Anua Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 serum post covers that kind of formula
– essential oils reliably irritate your skin
– you’re dealing with deep or long-standing pigmentation. That’s a question for a dermatologist, not a serum

Don’t stack two niacinamide serums. If you already use one, this doesn’t add much. Choose one.

How to use it

The brand’s directions are short:

  1. Apply a small amount to the entire face or to targeted areas.
  2. Gently pat until fully absorbed.

The US page also mentions using it on targeted areas. That’s why some retailers describe it as usable as a spot treatment.

Step Example
Cleanse Your usual gentle cleanser
Toner (optional) A hydrating, non-exfoliating toner
Serum AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, a thin layer on the whole face or dabbed on marks
Moisturiser Your usual
Morning Sunscreen last. For picks, see Round Lab Birch Juice or Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun

The sunscreen step matters more than the serum. The brand’s own page names sun exposure as a cause of the spots it targets, and any brightening serum is undone by unprotected sun on the same marks.

Price, size and where Korea sells it

Size: 50 ml / 1.69 fl oz, the same in Korea and the US.

50ml”. Korean beauty trade press (Beauty Hankook, August 2025) reported that AXIS-Y launched in Olive Young both online and in stores. That’s a press report about the brand, not a confirmed shelf sighting of this serum.

_olive_young_confirmed.json 에 엑시스와이 항목이 없다.

What I can say without guessing: in Korea it’s listed on the brand’s own site (axis-y.co.kr), Olive Young online, Coupang, Musinsa, 11st and Shinsegae duty-free. At a Korean store, look for 잡티케어, not “dark spot”.

How I put this together

This isn’t a lab test, a sponsored post or a personal review. I’ve left the first-person section empty on purpose until it can be written from real use.

What is here:

  • From the AXIS-Y US store, as published on 27 September 2026: the full ingredient list, size, directions, “formulated without” claims and the brand’s clinical figures.
  • From the AXIS-Y Korean site the same day: the Korean product name, the Korean ingredient list, the country of manufacture and the shelf life.
  • Product names as they appear in the top Google results in Korea: Olive Young online, Coupang, Shinsegae duty-free and others.
  • Google search volumes for Korea and the US, pulled the same day.
  • Korean press: Beauty Hankook (August 2025) on the Olive Young launch, and Segye Biz (June 2026) on the company’s reported Olive Young online ranking.
  • Individual review comments from a Reddit thread and the brand’s own store, reported as opinions.

What I have not confirmed:

  • The ingredient list printed on the Korean box, and whether the box carries the 미백 functional-cosmetic wording.
  • Any price, in Korea or the US.
  • Whether Olive Young stocks this serum on the shop floor.
  • The sample size, lab and method behind the brand’s clinical results.

I’ve flagged each of those instead of borrowing a figure from someone else’s page.

FAQ

Is the AXIS-Y dark spot serum the same as the Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum?
Yes. “Axis-y dark spot serum” is the short name people search. The full product name is AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, 50 ml. In Korea the same product is sold as 잡티케어 글로우 세럼 (“Blemish-Care Glow Serum”).

What is the Korean name of the AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum?
Olive Young’s online listing adds the nickname 잡티컷세럼 (“blemish-cut serum”) and the tag 미백 (“brightening”).

Is the Korean version of the axis y dark spot correcting glow serum different from the US one?
Going by the brand’s own pages, no. The Korean and US ingredient lists have the same 25 ingredients in the same order, and both are 50 ml. The name is the main difference. I haven’t compared the printed box labels yet.

How much niacinamide is in the axis y dark spot serum?
5%, according to the brand. It’s the third ingredient, after water and glycerin.

What do axis-y dark spot correcting glow serum reviews say?
The brand store shows 403 reviews, mostly five and four stars. A Reddit comment ranking in Google Korea said it brightened overall tone but didn’t change dark spots. A critical store review said fading was slow, and that twice-daily use led to small bumps. Those are individual experiences, but they fit a gentle 5% niacinamide formula: slow and steady, not fast.

Does the axis-y dark spot correcting glow serum contain fragrance?
The brand says it’s formulated without artificial fragrances. The list does end with rosemary leaf oil, an essential oil, in a small amount. If essential oils irritate your skin, keep that in mind.

Can I use the AXIS-Y dark spot serum with vitamin C or retinol?
Its own list has no acids and no retinoid, so it’s generally easy to layer. Niacinamide is commonly used alongside both. If you’re introducing a new active, add one product at a time so you can tell what your skin is reacting to.

Is AXIS-Y popular in Korea?
It’s bigger abroad on Google. US searches for the serum alone (6,600 a month) are several times all the Korea-side Google searches for the brand and serum combined. In Korea the English name also outsearches the Korean one. Korean Google figures understate domestic interest because of Naver. Korean press did report the serum ranking first in Olive Young’s online skincare category on one day in May 2026, according to the company.
