I was standing in front of this at Olive Young in Seoul reading the tube, and the number on it did not match what I expected. The tube said 92. It also said 100. And the product almost everyone actually means when they say “the COSRX snail thing” is 96.
Three numbers, one shelf. Here is what each of them is.
| Number | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| 92 | The percentage of snail mucin in the All In One Cream — the product in this review |
| 96 | The percentage in the Mucin Power Essence — a different product, a watery essence, not a cream |
| 100 | Not a product. It is the tube size: 100g / 3.52 oz |
So if you came here looking for “COSRX Snail 100,” there is no such thing. And if you came looking for the famous one, you may want the 96 rather than the 92.
Which one is famous, and it is not this one
English search volume, same month:
| Product | Monthly searches (US) |
|---|---|
| Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence | 49,500 |
| cosrx snail mucin (generic) | 18,100 |
| Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream | 6,600 |
| Advanced Snail Peptide Eye Cream | 2,400 |
| cosrx snail cream | 1,900 |
| snail mucin cream | 880 |
| cosrx snail 92 | 480 |
The 96 essence pulls seven and a half times the searches of the 92 cream. When a video or a Reddit thread says “COSRX snail,” the odds are heavily that they mean the essence.
That matters because they do different jobs. The essence is a watery, slightly stringy liquid you pat on early in a routine — a hydrating step. The cream is a gel-cream moisturiser that goes at the end, to seal. Swapping one for the other is not a small substitution; you either lose your hydration layer or you lose your moisturiser.
Only about 10 people a month search “cosrx snail 92 vs 96,” which tells me almost nobody realises there is a decision to make.
The retailers rename it, too
| Where | What it is called |
|---|---|
| Olive Young shelf, Seoul | 코스알엑스 어드밴스드 스네일 92 올인원 크림 |
| The tube itself | Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream · 100g / 3.52 oz |
| COSRX’s own site | Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream |
| Amazon (top result) | COSRX Snail Mucin 92% Face Moisturizer |
| Ulta | Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream, 3.52 oz |
| Skin Cupid | Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream (50g) |
Note the last row. There are 50g, 100g and 200g versions in circulation, and English searches split across all three. Amazon’s top listing drops the “92” and the “All In One” wording entirely and calls it a face moisturizer.
What to check before you pay: the word Cream (not Essence), the number 92 (not 96), and the size in grams. Those three together identify the tube in my photo no matter which name the retailer used.
This is the ninth Korean product I have checked where the Korean shelf name and the export listing disagree. It has stopped being a coincidence.
What Koreans actually reach for
| Korea | English-speaking | |
|---|---|---|
| The category, generically | 달팽이 크림 (snail cream) — 4,400 | snail mucin cream — 880 |
| The brand | 코스알엑스 — 3,600 | cosrx snail mucin — 18,100 |
| Brand + snail | 코스알엑스 스네일 — 40 | cosrx snail 92 — 480 |
| 스네일 크림 | 170 | — |
Read the first and third rows together, because this is the interesting part.
In Korea, “달팽이 크림” pulls 4,400 while “코스알엑스 스네일” pulls 40. More than a hundred times as many people search the ingredient category as search this brand’s version of it. Snail mucin in Korea is a generic shelf category, like “retinol cream” — nobody attaches a brand to it by default.
Abroad it is the reverse. Snail mucin is the COSRX thing. 18,100 people a month search “cosrx snail mucin” as a phrase.
That is worth knowing for a practical reason: if you are shopping in Korea and ask for 달팽이 크림, you will be shown a whole shelf, and COSRX will be one option among many rather than the obvious answer.
⚠️ A caveat on the numbers: Korea runs most of its searches through Naver rather than Google, so Google’s Korean figures understate domestic interest. I use them for relative comparison inside one market, never as a headcount.
What is in the cream
From the tube and COSRX’s own listing:
| Product | Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream |
| Size on the Seoul shelf | 100 g / 3.52 oz, tube |
| Headline active | Snail secretion filtrate 92% |
| Also listed | Sodium hyaluronate · Betaine · Panthenol · Allantoin · Adenosine |
| Texture | Slick, slightly stringy gel-cream that dries to a soft finish |
Snail secretion filtrate is a mix of glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid that behaves as a hydrator and a soothing agent rather than as an active treatment. At 92% it is essentially the whole formula, with humectants and calming agents making up the rest. Adenosine is the one ingredient here with a wrinkle-care function attached to it.
What it is not is a treatment. There is no retinoid, no acid at a functional percentage, no vitamin C. It is a comfortable moisturiser, which is exactly why it became a first-purchase product.

What Korea charges
What I can confirm from the shelf: it is stocked at Olive Young in the 100g tube, and it carries a TRY ME tester — which in Korean beauty retail is a signal the chain expects volume on it rather than an occasional sale.
Who this is for
Buy the 92 cream if: you want a gentle, comfortable gel-cream moisturiser, your skin is dry, dehydrated or recovering from over-exfoliation, and you want one low-risk product rather than a routine.
Buy the 96 essence instead if: you were looking for “the COSRX snail product.” That is the one with 49,500 searches behind it, and it is a hydrating step rather than a moisturiser.
Skip snail mucin if: you dislike slick or stringy textures — this is the most common reason people quietly abandon it, and no amount of reviews will change how it feels on your hands. Very oily skin in a humid summer often finds it too much as well.
Patch test if: you have a shellfish or mollusc sensitivity. It is uncommon but not unheard of.
Check the full list if: you are managing fungal acne. This contains dimethicone and other ingredients some malassezia-sensitive people avoid, so it is not a blanket-safe pick for that.

Where to get it
- 🛒 COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream on Amazon — the top listing may be titled “Snail Mucin 92% Face Moisturizer.” Check for Cream, 92, and the size in grams
- 🛒 COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence on Amazon — the essence, if that is the one you actually meant
- 🛒 Shop Korean skincare at Jolse — search “COSRX snail” (K-beauty retailer, ships worldwide)
- 🇰🇷 In Korea: Olive Young, in the 100g tube with a TRY ME tester. Ask for 달팽이 크림 and you will be shown the whole category, not just this one

How I put this together
Not a lab test, not a sponsored placement. What is here: the tube photographed on an Olive Young shelf in Seoul, the product name and size read directly off it, Google search volumes pulled for Korea and the United States in the same month, and the top eighteen Google results for the product name — which is how I established that Amazon, Ulta, Skin Cupid and COSRX’s own site each present this under a different name and size. The Olive Young price is not included because the electronic label was not legible in my photograph; I have flagged that rather than quoting a retailer’s figure as a Korean shelf price.
FAQ
Is COSRX Snail 92 the same as Snail 96?
No. 92 is the percentage in the All In One Cream, a gel-cream moisturiser. 96 is the percentage in the Mucin Power Essence, a watery essence used earlier in a routine. The essence is far more famous abroad — 49,500 searches a month against 6,600 for the cream.
What is COSRX Snail 100?
There is no Snail 100. The “100” on the Korean shelf is the tube size: 100g / 3.52 oz. The line also comes in 50g and 200g.
Should I get the cream or the essence?
The essence if you want a hydrating step early in your routine; the cream if you want the moisturiser that seals everything in. They are not interchangeable.
What does snail mucin actually do?
Snail secretion filtrate hydrates and soothes. It contains glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid, and it behaves as a comfortable hydrator rather than as an active treatment.
Is it fungal-acne safe?
Not reliably. It contains dimethicone and other ingredients some malassezia-sensitive people avoid. Read the full list if that applies to you.
Do Koreans use this?
Snail mucin is a mainstream Korean shelf category — 달팽이 크림 pulls 4,400 searches a month. But Koreans search the category rather than this brand: “코스알엑스 스네일” pulls only 40. Abroad, snail mucin and COSRX are treated as the same thing.
Is it sold at Olive Young?
Yes — the 100g tube, with a TRY ME tester on the shelf. Confirmed in person, September 2026.
